Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 11 (ANI): The 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas will be celebrated with great enthusiasm this year on July 26 at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla.
This event is being organized with the support of the district administration, the Department of Soldier Welfare, and the Army, where homage will be paid to Kargil heroes.
The information was provided by the Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, during a meeting held today in this regard.
Due to the possibility of bad weather, the event will be held at the Gaiety Theater.
Special parades and displays of weapons will also be organized on Ridge Maidan with the support of the Army.
Anupam Kashyap mentioned that the district administration will make every effort to celebrate this event grandly and on a large scale. Families of Kargil heroes and ex-servicemen will be invited and honored during this event.
Schools and colleges will also organize programs to inspire the youth to remember the sacrifices of our brave soldiers and remain dedicated to serving the nation.
Kashyap emphasized that Kargil Vijay Diwas reflects the courage of brave soldiers, their patriotism, and the true spirit of selfless national service. He mentioned that today’s meeting was the first session, and the final decisions regarding the program outline will be taken in the next week’s meeting, which will include additional district officials and officers from the Soldier Welfare Department among others.
Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on 26th July in India, commemorates the victory of Operation Vijay in 1999. This event marks the conclusion of the Kargil War between India and Pakistan, which began in May 1999.
