New Delhi [India], May 5 (ANI): Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Arshad Madani on Sunday spoke on the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Madani said that if any country stops water, let them stop it. He added that the rivers have been flowing for thousands of years and questioned where the water of these rivers will go.
Madani further said that the rule should be one of love, not hatred, and as a “Muslim” spending life in the country, he knows that “the things which are being promoted here are not suitable for the country.”
“If someone stops water, let them stop it… These rivers have been flowing for thousands of years, where will you take their water? It’s not easy. I think the rule should be of love and not hatred. I am a Muslim, I am spending my life here in this country, and I know that the things which are being promoted here are not suitable for the country”, Arshad Madani said.
Following the Pahalgam attacks, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, the Indian government took various measures against Pakistan.
The steps include suspending the Indus Water Treaty signed between both countries in 1960. Defence, Military, Naval, and Air Advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi were declared persona non grata and asked to leave India within a week.
The Indian government banned 15 Pakistani YouTube channels and shut its airspace for Pakistani flights. No, a Pakistani ship will be allowed to enter the Indian seaports, whereas social media handles of many prominent Pakistani celebrities and politicians have been suspended in India.
Meanwhile, a woman who was part of the group that rebuilt the Indian Air Force airstrip in Bhuj during the 1971 India-Pakistan war has called for firm action against Pakistan following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Kanbai Shivji Hirani, recalling her role during the war, said, “It was not possible to build the runway soon, but we made it possible by rebuilding it, as it was a matter of the country.”
She said the country’s victory in the war brought immense happiness, but recent developments have left her disturbed. Hirani appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take decisive action against Pakistan.
“PM Modi should take action on this, stop the water and food supply to Pakistan. The only way they will understand things is to stop it,” she said.
Terrorists shot and killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
The government has affirmed its resolve to deal a crushing blow to terrorism. It has said that the terrorists responsible for the attack and the conspirators behind it will face severe punishment.
The Central government has given the armed forces complete operational freedom to decide on the mode, targets, and timing of India’s response. (ANI)
