Tadepalle (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 30 (ANI): YSRCP spokesperson P Shiva Shankar on Friday slammed Andhra Pradesh government over the “hidden camera scandal in an Engineering College” at Andhra Pradesh’s Gudlavalleru and termed it a heinous crime, adding that it is a failure of the government.
Speaking to the media at the party central office here on Friday, YSRCP Spokesperson P Shiva Shankar stated “placement of hidden cameras in the girls’ hostel washroom was a heinous act”. He mentioned that this has caused significant distress among the students and their parents and the education system in the state has been destroyed since the coalition government came to power”.
He also demanded to identify the culprits and severely punish them.
“He criticized the government for merely watching while 300 students protested at Gudlavalleru Engineering College since midnight on Thursday and questioned why the college management suppressed the issue for a week, even after the students filed complaints.
He also asked why the police were not informed immediately or why they failed to respond if they were informed, raising concerns about the lack of basic security in the girls’ hostel.
He mentioned that the main suspect in the incident had Jana Sena posters on his Instagram.
Shivashankar pointed out that the while state government claims to be investigating the incident and at the same time police have already stated that they have concluded the case and found no evidence of such an event.
A post sharing the protest video from the college YSRCP official handle said on social media platform X “The disturbing news from Gudlavalleru Engineering College has shaken the campus to its core. A hidden camera allegedly found in the ladies’ hostel bathroom has sparked outrage among students. Horrifying accusations suggest that the suspect, Vijay, possesses compromising videos, with reports claiming some boys’ hostel students have bought them. Fear spreads like wildfire, igniting protests as terrified students demand justice. Parents are urgently calling for swift and severe action against the culprits. Shockingly, the college belongs to the follower of @JaiTDP, which is why they suppressed this issue and ensured it didn’t come out, even though it’s been a week since it happened”.
Earlier students of an engineering college in Gudlavalleru protested over hidden cameras being allegedly installed in the girls’ hostel washrooms of the college.
Meanwhile, Gudlavalleru Sub-Inspector Satyanarayana denied the allegations of any hidden cameras in the hostel premises.
“No hidden cameras have been found on the premises so far, but the investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited”, Sub Inspector Satyanarayana said. (ANI)
