New Delhi [India], September 27 (ANI): Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Thursday called for a medical report from Rohini Jail on an application moved for Ranchi doctor Ishteyaque Ahmed. He has alleged that his eardrum was damaged due to the physical torture during police custody.
He is an accused in AQIS Training Module case and in judicial custody alongwith ten other accused.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Dr Hardeep Kaur called for a medical report from jail authorities and listed the matter on Friday for hearing.
Advocate Abu Baker Sabaq moved an application for Dr Ishteyaque Ahmed. It was stated that due to the lack of proper medication and medical care, the applicant continues to face severe health issues, including high blood pressure.
The health condition requires urgent and appropriate medical support, the plea stated.
He sought direction to ensure that the applicant receives the required medical treatment to address the ongoing health issues, including high blood pressure, spinal pain, and the eardrum of the left side, which was damaged due to physical abuse/blatant hit during police remand.
It is also prayed to the court to allow the advocate/family member of the applicant to provide medicines to the applicant in Rohini jail as per the two medical prescriptions of the doctors.
Meanwhile, the court extended the judicial remand of 11 accused till October 9. Accused were produced before the court after expiry of judicial custody.
The accused are alleged to be members of a training module allegedly headed by Dr Ishtiyaque of Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Accused sent in judicial custody are Anamul Ansari, Shanaz Ansari, Altaf Ansari, Hasan Ansari, Arshad Khan, Umar Farooq, Ishteyaque Ahmed, Mohd. Rizwan, Motiur Rehaman, Rehmatullahi and Faizan Ahmed. They were arrested in August.
Delhi police sought the extension of judicial custody of all accused persons.
Advocate Abu Baker Sabaq appeared for Dr Ishteyaque Ahmed and seven other accused.
Accused Hasan Ansari, Anamul Ansari, Altaf Ansari, Arshad Khan, Umar Farooq and Shahbaz Ansari are natives of Jharkhand.
In a coordinated, intelligence based operation conducted by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in association with State Police forces of Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and UP, an AQ-inspired module was busted, Delhi police said.
The module allegedly was being led by one Dr Ishtiyaque of Ranchi and was aspiring to declare Khilafat and execute serious terrorist activities within the country, the police said.
The members of the module have received indoctrination and weapons training at various locations.
Six individuals were detained from Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, while actually undergoing weapon-handling training.
Eight suspects were detained from Jharkhand and UP for questioning.
Police have also recovered arms, ammunition, literature, etc. from several locations, including one AK-47 rifle. (ANI)
