New Delhi [India], October 21 (ANI): India’s para-badminton ace, Sukant Kadam, is all set to begin his campaign at the Japan Para-Badminton International 2024 as the first seed.
Sukant enters the tournament with high expectations, having been drawn into a competitive group that includes Japan’s Koki Ogawa and Bangladesh’s Mohammad Ali Imam. The tournament kicks off with the round-robin phase, where Sukant will look to assert his dominance and push towards the knockout stages.
World No 1 Sukant Kadam has been undergoing intense training in preparation for the event and is highly motivated to put his best foot forward.
Speaking ahead of the competition, Sukant expressed his excitement about the challenge, stating, “I’ve been working hard and am feeling confident. My goal is to maintain my focus and play at the highest level throughout the tournament,” as quoted by a release.
As the top-ranked player, all eyes will be on Sukant to see if he can maintain his world-leading form and make a strong push for the title at the Japan para-badminton International 2024.
Earlier he clinched a silver medal at the Indonesia Para-Badminton International 2024, showcasing remarkable skill and determination throughout the tournament. In a hard-fought final, Kadam faced Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan in the Men’s Singles SL4 category, with the match ending 21-14, 21-14 in favor of the local favorite.
Kadam’s silver medal cemented his position among the top para-badminton players in the world, continuing his impressive international form.
India para-shuttlers won five medals in the recently concluded Paris Paralympics, including one gold, two silver, and two bronze. Though, Kadam, fell short in the bronze medal match against Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan
The final scoreline read 17-21, 18-21. In the first game of the match, Kadam fought valiantly in the closely-contested match but went down to the Indonesian 17-21 in the end. The second game also saw some hard-fought performance but Kadam eventually went down against the Indonesian 18-21, thus resulting in his straight-sets defeat. (ANI)
