New Delhi [India], November 14 (ANI): Blaming the Aam Aadmi Party over deteriorating air quality in Delhi, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said on Thursday that AAP has brought Delhi to a state worse than Lahore and the people cannot go out without wearing a mask.
“Delhi is covered under a layer of pollution. You cannot even go out without wearing a mask. Delhi has achieved a milestone as it has crossed Lahore in pollution. AAP has brought Delhi to a state worse than Lahore. Today, the AQI is crossing the mark of 500-600. They (AAP) blame UP, Haryana and Diwali for all this. Earlier, they used to blame stubble burning in Punjab, now they don’t say anything,” Poonawalla said while speaking to ANI.
“The air is so polluted today. Aam Aadmi Party is playing with our health,” he added.
Meanwhile, The AQI level in Delhi on Thursday was 428, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Bhayender, a local said that the daily activities were being affected due to the increased pollution.
Speaking to ANI, he said “The pollution has increased. We are facing breathing problems and irritation in the eyes. Earlier we used to go for running, but we are not even able to do that now.”
AQI at Anand Vihar was recorded as 470, 469 at Ashok Vihar, 417 at ITO and 451 at Rohini.
Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva also slammed the AAP government and said, “We are standing at the Kartavya Path and the AQI here is 474… We cannot even tell which way is the India Gate. The inefficiency of the Arvind Kejriwal government is the reason… This government is only into event management. Have they made any environmental plans for Delhi in the last 10 years?”
He pointed out that PM 2.5 is the biggest reason during this season and it is caused by dust.
“The roads in Delhi are damaged… SC has also said that 3100 tonnes of CNG waste is being released untreated… They have no medium to treat it… Punjab’s stubble burning and PM 2.5 is the reason behind pollution in Delhi… Holidays should be declared for school students and an advisory should be issued that people should not go for morning walks,” Sachdeva added.
