Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], November 27 (ANI): In response to TMC MLA Humayun Kabir’s remarks on ‘Babri Masjid’, Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar said, “This is an open threat to Hindus…” in Kolkata on Thursday.
He added, ” This man has issued threats to Hindus previously as well, and the main thing is that he doesn’t know history. I will ask him to read the translation of the Baburnama and find out who Babri was, what his relation to Babur was, and whether it is allowed in Islam. Let him read first because they don’t read anything. All these people are ‘Madrasa Chaap’, so that’s why they don’t know history, they don’t know anything, they don’t read anything, and that’s why they make such type of comments.”
The remarks came after TMC MLA Kabir triggered controversy by announcing that he would lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid on December 6 in Beldanga, Murshidabad district, marking 33 years since the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya.
“We will lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid on December 6 in Beldanga, Murshidabad district. It will take three years to complete. Various Muslim leaders will participate in that event,” he said.
The disputed structure at Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished on December 6, 1992, by the Kar Sevaks.
Many other political personalities also responded to MLA Humayun Kabir’s remarks on the ‘Babri Masjid’.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Wednesday said the people of the country have been awakened and “no son of Babar” will ever be born in the country who dares to construct a Babri Masjid again.
“Dobara koi Babar paida hi nahi hoga jo Bharat ki bhoomi par phir se koi Babri Masjid bana le (No Babar will be born again who will build another Babri Masjid on the soil of India.) The children of Maa Bharati have awoken, and now, no supporter of Babar will build Babri Masjid in India. Lord Ram’s temple, Maa Janaki’s temple will be built in India,” Sinha told reporters.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla launched a scathing attack against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir for claiming to build the Babri Masjid in West Bengal, calling it appeasement politics for votes.
Calling Kabir’s remarks “controversial,” Poonawalla said that the TMC leader believes in abusing Hindus for his vote bank.
In contrast, Congress leader Udit Raj came to his defence, saying people opposing it are creating “meaningless speculation.
“If the foundation stone of a temple can be laid, what’s the problem with laying the foundation stone for a mosque? Those who oppose it are creating meaningless speculation. This is religious freedom in this country and in all countries,” Raj said. (ANI)
