Kaziranga (Assam) [India], October 2 (ANI): Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve reopened on Tuesday for the 2024-25 tourist season after being closed during the monsoon.
Assam Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, along with cabinet ministers Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta, officially reopened the park at a function held at the Bagori Forest Range.
Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Field Director Sonali Ghosh, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, and other senior officials were also present at the event.
The park is now open for Jeep Safari in three ranges: Kaziranga Range (Kohora), Western Range (Bagori), and Burapahar Range (Ghorakati).
With 2,613 rhinos as of 2022, Kaziranga National Park is recognised globally for its rhino conservation efforts.
Strict protection measures, smart patrolling, and community engagement have contributed to its success. Partnerships between the park authorities and local communities have helped reduce human-wildlife conflicts, further strengthening conservation initiatives.
Kaziranga is not only a conservation success story but also a prime destination for eco-tourism, attracting wildlife enthusiasts and photographers from around the world. Revenue from tourism is reinvested in conservation, ensuring the long-term protection of rhinos and other wildlife. Assam’s Kaziranga stands as a symbol of India’s leadership in wildlife conservation and coexistence with nature. (ANI)
