Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 22 (ANI): The BJP Himachal Pradesh held its 2024 membership drive workshop at the district office in Sundernagar, where around 350 delegates participated and were briefed on the upcoming campaign activities through two presentations.
The event was presided over by BJP State President Dr Rajeev Bindal, accompanied by state co-incharge Sanjay Tandon, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, State General Secretary Siddharthan, General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, MP and General Secretary Dr Sikander Kumar, and Trilok Kapoor.
Dr Bindal emphasised that the BJP has launched a missed call number to facilitate the membership drive, which will commence on September 1, following membership enrollment by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National President JP Nadda.
He noted that despite having a membership of 11 to 18 crore, the BJP continues to engage in such democratic processes, distinguishing it from the 1,500 other political parties in India. The drive aims to enroll 200 members at every booth across the state.
Bindal Announced State Team, Bihari Lal Sharma to Lead
During the workshop, Dr Bindal announced the state team for the membership drive, with Bihari Lal Sharma appointed as the state convenor. The team will include Vice President Payal Vaidya, Secretary Sumit Sharma, Rajesh Thakur, and Munish Chauhan.
State co-incharge Sanjay Tandon revealed that the BJP aims to enroll 16 lakh members in Himachal Pradesh. He encouraged party workers to go door-to-door to achieve this goal, stressing that only those who enroll 100 primary members will be considered active workers. Tandon also highlighted plans for social media promotion and wall writing campaigns, as well as the launch of a dedicated hashtag.
BJP National Vice President Rekha Verma, who is also in charge of the campaign, emphasized that the party’s roots are firmly planted in Indian soil. She highlighted the party’s resilience, from winning just two seats in the 1984 elections to leading the government for the third consecutive time. Verma described the membership drive as an inclusive effort, embodying the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.”
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur expressed pride in being part of the world’s largest political party, noting the strong leadership of Narendra Modi and the energy of BJP workers.
He affirmed that the party is focused on including every section of society in its membership drive and is committed to achieving the set targets. (ANI)
