Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], August 30 (ANI): Former Jharkhand CM and ex-JMM leader Champai Soren reiterated on Friday that he is set to join the BJP today and would work for the development of Jharkhand and the existence of tribals in the state.
Champai Soren said, “On August 18 itself, I had posted about the politics that happened with me in the party that I made with my blood and sweat. I came out alone from JMM as my intention was not to break the party. Sometimes I thought I would leave politics, then I thought that I would form a new organisation or if I find a partner, I would join them for the betterment of Jharkhand. We have got a good partner in the form of BJP. I am going to join in BJP today.
He further said that the reason he chose the BJP was that for the welfare of tribals, BJP was the most ideal party where he could place his viewpoint.
“We will fight for Jharkhand like before. I will work for the development of Jharkhand, to save the existence of tribals. We will develop Jharkhand,” he further said.
Soren also expressed his faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Earlier JMM MLA from Ghatshila, Ramdas Soren took oath as a state cabinet minister in a function held at Raj Bhawan here on Friday. He replaced Champai Soren in the cabinet, who quit the JMM on August 28.
Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ramdas Soren. The function was attended by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, senior leaders of the JMM-led alliance, and several government officials.
Champai Soren became the chief minister of Jharkhand on February 2 after Hemant Soren resigned as the CM before being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.
On August 28, he resigned from all posts and primary membership of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
“Today I resigned from the primary membership and all posts of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Our struggle will continue on the issues of tribals, natives, Dalits, backward people and common people of Jharkhand,” Soren said in a post on X as he shared his resignation letter. (ANI)
