Football match dispute leads to kidnapping, assault of students – World News Network

Mangaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 20 (ANI): Mangaluru City Police on Monday registered a case of assault and kidnapping involving two groups of students who attended the football match at Nehru Maidan Football ground on August 14, 2024, said Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal.
According to the Commissioner, the dispute between the students happened during the match between Yenepova and Aloysius Football team with Yenepova winning the match at Nehru Maidan Football Ground on August 14 in Mangaluru, Karnataka.
Later, on August 19, near Pandeshwar Forum Mall, the accused allegedly forced the victims into a car and assaulted them. Two of the victims were identified to be students of Yenepoya College and Matha Institution.
After the initial assault, the victims were taken to a different location by the accused; taken near Mahakali Paddu and Jappu Mahakali Paddu Masjid, where the assault was done again by the group of students. Additionally, the assault was also filmed before letting the victims go. The group of accused have been identified as Diyaan, Taslim, Salman, and two other 17-year-old minors. Diyaan and a minor male were identified as students of St. Aloysius College and Matha Institution.
The victims were taken to Wenlock Hospital and their condition is reportedly stable, according to the Police Commissioner.
Based on the complaint by one of the minors, a student of Yenepoya College, a case has been registered in South Police Station under Sections 109, 115(2), 118(1), 127(2), 137(2), 189(2), 190, 191(1), 191(3), 351(2), 352 of BNS, 2023.
The Commissioner has confirmed that two of the accused, Diyaan and Salman have been secured and that efforts are being made towards securing the remaining accused at the earliest. (ANI)
