Paschim Bardhaman (West Bengal) [India], August 7 (ANI): Amid the ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dilip Ghosh voiced his concern for the people of the country, stating that the future for Bengalis living in Bangladesh looks bleak.
“In Bangladesh, those who wanted to keep the country under Pakistan’s control–those who worked as Razakars and acted as agents for Pakistan–are now aligning themselves with China and Pakistan. This is harmful for Bangladesh and also for our country. For the 20-22 crore Bengalis living in Bangladesh, their future is bleak,” Ghosh told ANI.
Dilip Ghosh also blamed the current situation in Bangladesh on some extremist and narrow-minded individuals who oppose progress, adding that their actions are very concerning for the future of Bangladesh.
“Sheikh Hasina has made significant progress in development, cooperating with various countries, and improving the lives of ordinary people. However, some extremist and narrow-minded individuals do not want this progress. Their actions are very concerning for the future of Bangladesh,” Ghosh said.
Bangladesh is facing a fluid political situation, with Sheikh Hasina tendering her resignation from her post in the wake of mounting protests on August 5. The protests, led mainly by students demanding an end to the quota system for government jobs, evolved into anti-government demonstrations.
A day after Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister of Bangladesh and left the country, President Mohammed Shahabuddin announced the dissolution of the country’s parliament to make way for the formation of an interim administration, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been appointed as the head of Bangladesh’s interim government, Dhaka Tribune reported. Bangladesh President’s Press Secretary, Joynal Abedin, made the announcement.
The decision regarding the appointment of Bangladesh’s interim government head was made during a meeting between President Shahabuddin and the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. (ANI)
