Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 21 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the newly renovated Khodiyar Gram Panchayat Bhavan and Modern Anganwadi Kendra-1 in Ahmedabad’s Khodiyar village on Saturday.

On this occasion, Ahmedabad District Collector Praveena D.K., District Development Officer Videh Khare, Daskroi Taluka officials, and a large number of villagers were present.
The Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by children at the inauguration of the Modern Anganwadi Kendra-1.
Khodiyar village in Daskroi Taluka has been renovated with public donations from donor Kanaiyalal Tribhuvandas Thakkar. The Gram Panchayat Bhavan’s renovation cost an estimated Rs25 lakh.
A Modern Smart Anganwadi Kendra-1, built at a cost of Rs6 lakh 20 thousand, has also been inaugurated in Khodiyar village. The former sarpanch, Badarji Thakore, donated Rs1 lakh 20 thousand for the renovation of this Anganwadi Kendra.
“Inauguration of the renovated Khodiyar Gram Panchayat Bhavan and Modern Anganwadi Center-1 in Khodiyar village of Daskroi Taluka in Ahmedabad district. It was a pleasure to meet the children and villagers on this occasion. I appreciate the generosity of the donors who contributed to the renovation,” the Chief Minister wrote in a post on X.
Additionally, the Gujarat Chief Minister reviewed the Sardar Sarovar (Narmada) Project to get information about the drainage project of village Nalakantha in Viramgam taluka of Ahmedabad district.
Work is ongoing to increase the irrigation facilities in Sanand, Viramgam, and Bawala talukas in the Nalakantha area and Kowada area of the Fatewadi Canal and Narmada project command area.
This scheme is being prepared at a cost of Rs 1400 crore for the development of pipelines. It aims to increase irrigation facilities in 38 villages around the Nalakantha area and the fringes of Fatewadi Canal, Sanand, Khawda of Narmada Canal, and Viramgam Taluka in Ahmedabad district.
Parthiv Vyas, Director of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd, said this is a project of Rs 1400 crores, of which Rs 377.65 crores worth of work has started in the first phase, and the remaining Rs 1020 crores worth of work will start in the second phase.
In a letter dated August 28, 2021, Union Home Minister Amit Shah instructed that this project should be planned to increase irrigation facilities in 38 villages around Nalakantha, at the end of the Fatewadi Canal, and in Sanand, Bawla, and Viramgam talukas of the Narmada Yojana.
The Sardar Sarovar Project is one of the largest water resources projects in India, covering four major states: Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The dam’s spillway discharging capacity (30.7 lakh cusecs) would be the third highest in the world. (ANI)
