Damoh (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 2 (ANI): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed his grief over the death of devotees in an accident involving a tractor-trolley travelling from Ghugus village in Damoh district to Jatashankar Dham. The vehicle overturned, leading to the fatalities. The Chief Minister has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
The accident occurred near Fatehpur village, within the jurisdiction of Mangron police station in Damoh district, on the night between Sunday and Monday.
According to Damoh Collector Sudhir Kumar Kochar, the newly acquired tractor-trolley, carrying devotees to Jatashankar Dham in Chhatarpur district from Ghugus village, overturned near Fatehpur village. There were about 40 people on board; four people lost their lives–two at the scene and two during treatment–while around 28 others were injured.
Of those injured, six were seriously hurt and are receiving treatment at Damoh District Hospital. The remaining 22 individuals were given primary treatment at the civil hospital in Hatta and were discharged by Monday evening.
The office of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav posted on X, stating: “We have received the sad news of the untimely death of devotees in an accident involving a tractor-trolley full of devotees travelling to Jatashankar Mahadev from Ghugus village, Damoh district. Our condolences are with the bereaved families. The families of the deceased will receive financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each, and the injured will be given Rs 50,000 each.”
“I pray to Baba Mahakal to grant the departed souls a place at his lotus feet and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the post added. (ANI)
