Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 30 (ANI): Gwalior is all set to welcome 100 TPD (Tonnes per day) cattle dung based Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant, which is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually on October 2.
The CBG plant is built on the premises of Gwalior’s largest cowshed, Adarsh Gaushala, located in Laltipara locality in the district. The Gaushala is operated by Gwalior Municipal Corporation and over 10,000 cattle live here.

According to the district authority, the plant has been built by Indian Oil Corporation worth Rs 33 crores. The plant will generate two tons of compressed Biogas daily from 100 tons of cattle dung.

Gwalior Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aman Vaishnav told ANI, “A CBG plant with capacity of 100 TPD built inside Adarsh Gaushala at Laltipara here is likely to be inaugurated by PM Modi virtually on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. The speciality of this plant is that it is the first CBG plant in Madhya Pradesh in which biogas will be prepared from cattle dung and garbage such as vegetable and fruit waste materials collected from mandis and homes.”

The biogas will be primarily used in the garbage vehicles of the Municipal Corporation which run on CNG, so that the financial burden of the Corporation on petrol and diesel expenses will be reduced, he said.
“The plant will produce two tonnes of gas from 100 tonnes of cattle dung in a day. As soon as it is inaugurated, it will work with full capacity and we will get two tonnes of gas from it in a day. This plant has been built at a cost of 33 crores and it is built in an area of four acres,” the officer said.

An agreement has been signed between Indian Oil Corporation and Municipal Corporation for the plant, under which it has been built in a cowshed here, he added.
Meanwhile, caretaker of Adarsh Gaushala, Mahant Rishabh Devanand Maharaj told ANI, “It is the largest cowshed in Madhya Pradesh and around 10,000 destitute cattle live and are reared here. The cow dung from our Gaushala, the cattle dung from the city and the vegetable market and agricultural waste will be used in the plant. It will generate 2 tonnes of CBG daily and it will be green energy. A message of the Swachh Bharat mission will also be conveyed through cowshed and the CBG plant.” (ANI)
