New Delhi [India], October 3 (ANI): The National Capital Region Transport Corporation has launched co-branded Namo Bharat NCMC enabled cards on Friday for travelling in Namo Bharat trains.
The Namo Bharat NCMC cards aims to provide seamless connectivity and integration between Namo Bharat Trains and other modes of public transport in the region to commuters.
These NCMC-enabled prepaid and debit cards will not just enhance the travel experience but can be used as one card for everyday transactions like shopping and dining, making them a versatile choice for commuters.
The Namo Bharat NCMC cards will be available for purchase at RRTS stations, commuters can also purchase these cards through the Airtel Payments Bank section on the Airtel Thanks app.
In a move to further enhance the travel experience for its commuters, NCRTC has collaborated with Airtel Payments Bank to introduce co-branded National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC).
These cards, which include Debit, Prepaid, and Prepaid Payment Instruments for Mass transit solutions (PPI- MTS) options, have been launched, today, at the NCRTC corporate office by Shalabh Goel, Managing Director, NCRTC, and Ganesh Ananthanarayanan, Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Payments Bank, in the presence of senior officers of both organizations.
Shalabh Goel, Managing Director, NCRTC has said that NCRTC’s collaboration with Airtel Payments Bank to launch Namo Bharat NCMC card marks a significant step in our ongoing efforts towards ensuring seamless connectivity across the region.
With this all-in-one card, commuters can travel conveniently across India’s first RRTS and other public transit systems, while also managing utility and retail payments. This initiative underscores our dedication to efficiently transform the daily commutes, and ultimately help improve the quality of life for people.
Ganesh Ananthanarayanan, Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Payments Bank, said “we are excited to partner with NCRTC in enhancing the digital payment ecosystem for public transportation. The co-branded NCMC-enabled cards provide passengers with a secure, contactless, and comprehensive payment solution, not just for travel but also for everyday transactions. This initiative is a step towards building a future-ready transport system.”
Exclusively issued by Airtel Payments Bank, the Namo Bharat NCMC cards are equipped with tap-and-pay technology, allowing quick and secure transactions at transit terminals, retail outlets, and other locations. These cards are now available at all RRTS stations, providing commuters with seamless travel on Namo Bharat trains and easy integration with various other modes of public transport.
The contactless payment feature enhances the speed and safety of transactions, ensuring a seamless experience for users. Commuters can purchase these cards from ticket windows at RRTS stations after completing KYC verification. Airtel Payments Bank offers the PPI-MTS prepaid card option, ensuring greater accessibility for a wider audience. Users can also obtain these cards through the Airtel Payments Bank section on the Airtel Thanks app.
As a unified payment solution, NCMC-enabled cards simplify travel across various modes of transport, including metros, railways, and buses, eliminating the need for multiple tickets or cards nationwide. Launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘One Nation, One Card’ initiative, the NCMC is designed to provide a seamless platform for commuters, integrating various modes of public transport into a single, convenient system.
NCRTC has been at the forefront of implementing initiatives to provide a seamless and hassle-free travel experience for its commuters. In line with this commitment, earlier this year, NCRTC has collaborated with DMRC and IRCTC for Integrated QR-Ticketing, enabling seamless travel on Namo Bharat Trains.
NCRTC is committed to creating a modern, sustainable, and efficient transport network, and this collaboration marks a significant milestone in that journey. NCRTC has recently clinched top honours at the UIC Sustainability Impact Awards 2024 in Germany securing both the Best Transit Award for Seamless Connectivity and the coveted Overall Winner Award.
Currently, a 42 km section of the corridor between Sahibabad and Meerut South is operational, serving 9 stations. The entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, along with the Meerut Metro, is expected to be fully operational by June 2025. (ANI)
