Patna (Bihar) [India], July 13 (ANI): Amid mounting Opposition criticism over Bihar’s law and order situation, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday claimed there was no organised crime in the State, adding that “it is a bit difficult for the government to stop” murders stemming from personal disputes.
“There is good governance in Bihar, there is no organised crime,” Choudhary told ANI.
“If a murder is taking place due to some personal dispute, then it is a bit difficult for the government to stop it. But no organised crime will be allowed to take place in Bihar. This is clear,” he added.
Earlier in the day, pointing out the murder of a BJP leader in Patna, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack against the NDA government in Bihar. He asked whether “anyone in the NDA government is willing to listen to the truth or admit their mistakes.”
“And now, a BJP leader shot dead in Patna! What to say, and to whom? Is there anyone in the NDA government willing to listen to the truth or admit their mistakes?” Tejashwi Yadav posted on X.
“Everyone knows about the CM’s health, but what are the two useless BJP deputy chief ministers doing? No statement from the corrupt Bhunja-DK party?” he added.
Gopal Khemka, a businessman and a BJP leader from Bihar, was shot dead outside his home in Patna earlier this month.
He had previously requested police protection for his family.
Days after Khemka was shot dead, another man was killed in Patna’s Ram Krishna Nagar area after being shot by an unidentified assailant. The victim, Vikram Jha, succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
According to police, Jha was shot by a person who arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire. A murder case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Jha, originally from Darbhanga district, had been living in Patna for a year and ran a grocery store. He lived with his family on the first floor of the same building.
Meanwhile, the body of a woman was found in Pirapur of Goraul police station area of Vaishali district.
The police also said that the accused in the case had been identified, and the arrest would take place soon.
“The body of a woman was recovered. On investigation, we found out that her mother tried to file a (missing) complaint at the Bhagwanpur Police Station and the Goraul Police Station, but the SHOs at these stations did not file the complaint,” Vaishali SP Lalit Mohan Sharma told ANI.
“Action has been taken against Bhagwanpur SHO, and Goraul SHO has been suspended. The investigation is underway. The accused has been identified, and soon we will arrest him,” he added. (ANI)
