Patna (Bihar) [India], October 27 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his visit to poll-bound Bihar, alleging that the PM Modi is “coming to cheat Bihar.”
Speaking to the media in Patna, Tejashwi said that mere visits and rallies by the Prime Minister would not change the reality on the ground.
“Look, everyone has to come for elections. What difference will merely his coming here make? Everyone knows that he (Pm Modi) is coming to cheat Bihar,” Tejashwi Yadav said
The former Deputy Chief Minister questioned the Prime Minister’s development record and demanded transparency in central allocations to Bihar.
“All we want to know from the Prime Minister is what you gave to Gujarat in 11 years and what you gave to Bihar — just show the accounts, that’s all we need. Tell us how much was given to Gujarat in the past years and how much to Bihar,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bihar on October 30 as part of the BJP’s campaign for Assembly elections to attend two programmes in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal confirmed on Saturday.
Earlier on Sunday, Tejashwi Yadav, accompanied by Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani, addressed an election rally at Alta Hat Ground in Kochadhaman Assembly constituency of Kishanganj district, Bihar, appealing for votes in favour of RJD candidate Mujahid Alam.
During the rally, Tejashwi launched a fierce attack on the BJP and RSS and appealed to the public to vote for RJD candidate Mujahid Alam from Kochadhaman.
Targeting the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tejashwi alleged that “whenever they come to Bihar for elections, they only criticise Lalu Prasad Yadav and me instead of talking about development.”
Referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged remark in Patna that Tejashwi would be “taught a lesson” so he would think a hundred times before contesting the next election, Tejashwi hit back, invoking Bihari pride, saying, “We are Biharis — why should we be afraid? Ek Bihari sab par bhari!”
Tejashwi also recalled that Lalu Prasad Yadav had once arrested senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani, asserting that “no BJP leader could intimidate him.”
He made several promises for the Seemanchal region, including opening a branch of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Kishanganj if the Grand Alliance forms the government.
Tejashwi urged the public to support the Grand Alliance to bring development and change to Bihar.
The voting for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the results will be declared on November 14. (ANI)
