New Delhi [India], July 16 (ANI): Congress leader Ajoy Kumar on Tuesday accused the BJP of “state sponsored terrorism” in Tripura. He also took a dig at PM Modi and said that the “56-inch” guy said that terrorism would be wiped out.
“In Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists killed four brave soldiers. In Tripura, the BJP is attacking and killing opponents. They have their government there. All BJP people burned houses and killed people. When you attack innocent people and you do random acts of violence, then it is called terrorism,” Ajoy said.
“We tried to tell the Prime Minister to dismiss the Manipur government, but he will not do that. He and home minister Amit Shah should stop this now. They should dismiss all BJP people involved in violence. Situation in Tripura is very serious. Today, as we are doing three press conferences, Sudip Barman was injured and a candidate’s head has been broken,” he added further.
The Congress leader also pointed out that a delegation in 2022 went to see the violence in Tripura and they were attacked, adding “This is state sponsored,” he said.
“This 56-inch guy said that terrorism will be wiped out. Just to get power, the BJP started a fight between Kuki and Meitis in Manipur and now they have started a fight between tribals and non tribals in Tripura. Congress is saying you want power take it but don’t divide India,” Ajoy Kumar added.
Meanwhile, two days after the violence and arson attack in the Ganda Twisa sub-division in Tripura’s Dhalai district, district administration authorities said on Sunday that approximately 30 to 40 shops and 20 to 25 houses were completely destroyed.
Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident, officials said on Sunday.
Superintendent of Police Dhalai Avinash Rai attributed the violence to heightened emotions, explaining that a scuffle on July 7 involving two individuals led to one being severely injured and later dying.
“Following his death, violence erupted due to heightened emotions, leading to incidents of arson and vandalism. The situation was brought under control within two to three hours. Now, everything is under control. I urge the people of Gandacherra not to believe rumours; senior officers and CAPF personnel are deployed in large numbers to ensure security,” he said.
He also mentioned that four individuals have been arrested in connection with the first incident, and the mastermind behind the violence will soon be apprehended. (ANI)
