Uttarakhand CM announces Rs 5 lakh for organisation of sports fair in Uttarkashi – World News Network

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) [India], November 12 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday announced to give Rs 5 lakh for the organisation of Yamuna Valley Sports and Cultural Development Festival, organised at Damta in the Uttarkashi district.
CM Dhami also highlighted that it is a matter of pride for the state that the 2024 National Games will be held in Dehradun.
The national games are scheduled for January 28 to February 14.
Announcing that the Danda Devrana Fair of Rudreshwar Maharaj will be included in the calendar of state fairs, he also said the government is considering constructing a playground and helipad at Tikra Top.
“Appropriate decision will be taken after assessing the need for a polytechnic institute in the Damta area,” said CM Dhami according to a statement by the CMO.
CM Dhami reached Damta today to participate in the festival, held at Surat Stadium Damta Kandi. Thousands of local people gathered at this function to welcome the CM, according to the CMO’s statement.
The Chief Minister also participated in the traditional folk dance of the Rawain-Jaunsar-Jaunpur region along with the villagers.
Earlier, during the fair, the CM stressed connecting the youth with sports and said that in the 2024 state budget, the government has allocated more than Rs 1.5 thousand crores to enhance the sports skills of youth.
CM Dhami said, “Our government is building stadiums at various places in the state through which sports talents are being promoted. We are also providing financial assistance for the fairs and sports festivals organized in the state. For organizing this fair, an amount of Rs 5 lakhs will be given by the state government.”
The folk festival Igas Bagwal was also organised in Uttarkashi along with the sports fair.
The CM also praised the local population for preserving the cultural heritage and encouraging sports.
“The people of this region have made important and commendable efforts through this function to preserve their rich cultural heritage and encourage sports talents. The state government will continue to encourage such efforts.” the CM said.
The CM also assured the people that the state government is paying special attention to encouraging sports and cultural activities and preserving and promoting the rich traditions of the state and work is being done rapidly on sports-related facilities and facilities. (ANI)
